Lady Gaga - Telephone Ft. Beyonce | Official Video

“Once you kill a cow, you gotta make a burger”, Lady Gaga explains quite serenely in her latest music video, Telephone, featuring Beyonce. The statement is bawdy, strange, yet almost introspective enough to achieve philosophical atonement–and it makes one wonder. Just like the statement, the plot to the rest of this nine minute video written by Lady Gaga herself and Jonas Akerlund (director whose video for Madonna’s song “Ray of Light” won two Grammy awards and seven MTV VMA awards), is suspenseful and dazzling. All in all, the video is what one would expect from Lady Gaga (and of course, in recent Gaga fashion, someone dies in the video).
In the video, Lady Gaga gets thrown in jail, bailed out, and joins her vagabond partner-in-crime, Beyonce, on a journey to exterminate men, starting with a crude man played by Tyrese Gibson. The jail house dance scene a la gaudier version of Chicago, and whimsical references to Lady Gaga’s hermaphrodite rumors are indisputably entertaining, but another highlight of her video lies in the outfits.
Channeling Lady Gaga’s renowned taste for everything ostentatious, her stylist Nicola Formichetti had outdone herself with an impressive convoy of designers and couture pieces. Some notable looks include a strappy bikini created from crime scene tapes by Brian Lichtenberg, dresses by Jean Charles De Castelbajac, Thierry Mugler and a custom made chain link jumpsuit by Viktor and Rolf. Lady Gaga’s collective, Haus of Gaga, had also crafted some key pieces in the video including sunglasses covered in lit cigarettes, a leopard outfit and bedazzled lingerie from the jail house dance scene. Jeremy Scott’s JS Mickey sunglasses make an appearance on Beyonce after she poisoned her man as well.
The stunning styling and wonderful work by Haus of Gaga are testaments to the songstress’ style and should blow doubts of Lady Gaga being a 2009 phenomenon out of the water. via: Nicola Formichetti
